ABOUT US - THE SOLOMON FAMILY
Hi. We are Steve and Martha Solomon, owners of Stitches From Heaven. We launched Stitches From Heaven as a way to cope from the loss of our son, Nathan, who lost his battle with cancer at age 6. Nate was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma just after his 4th birthday. He endured 14 months of chemo, 5 weeks of radiation and 5 surgeries (including fusing his neck which caused him to wear a "halo" with 6 screws drilled into his head). Nathan relapsed shortly after his 6th birthday and soon became an "Angel". "Our hearts still ache in sadness, And secret tears still flow, What is meant to lose you, No one will ever know." ![]() "Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to ME, and do not forbid them; for the kingdom of Heaven belong to such as these.' " Matthew 19:14 Many people have asked us what our logo means. This how we came up with it. "Six waves for each year that Nate was alive A bright smiling sun, 'Cause he was our sunshine A ribbon of gold is for cancer in kids Home with the Lord is where Nathan is." Stitches From Heaven has been providing personalized embroidered fleece blankets to kids with cancer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Part of our proceeds from the sale of our products goes to the “NATHAN SOLOMON MEMORIAL FUND” (we are still working on establishing a foundation), which funds the giving of embroidered blankets to the children with Cancer. "Dear Mrs. Solomon, I have seen some of the absolutely wonderful personalized embroidered blankets you are making for our patients. I am sure all kids will treasure these and that they will bring some happiness and warmth into each of our patient's lives. Thank you for this caring and creative way of keeping Nathan's memory alive. You are very special." Stuart E. Siegel MD Director-Head, Division of Hematology-Oncology Children's Hospital Los Angeles Our goal for Stitches From Heaven was simple - to sell enough embroidery so we could purchase and embroider personalized fleece blankets and give them to kids going through chemo at Children's Hospital Los Angeles (in memory of our "Nate the Great"). Nathan always had his green fleece blanket, which comforted him during his long hospitalizations. Nathan's generous legacy continues through these blankets that are given in his name. What started off as a way to keep Nathan's memory alive, has become such a blessing. Steve is now able to work with us and enjoy the true blessing of being a Dad. Our 6 children, Matthew, Samantha, Nathan, Timothy & twins Stephen and Jonathan (including Nate - since we constantly feel his presence) help us to design the blankets for the kids with cancer, making this a truly "family run business." Thank you for visiting our web site. Sincerely, Steve and Martha By supporting Stitches From Heaven, you will also be supporting our efforts to help kids with cancer… one stitch at a time!
